Based on the Norfolk/Suffolk border

Norwich weddings,
done differently.

I'm Aaron — a candid wedding photographer based on the Norfolk/Suffolk border, shooting across Norwich, Norfolk and Suffolk. Norwich is one of my favourite cities to work in. Whether it's a ceremony at Norwich Castle, an intimate morning at the Georgian Townhouse, or a full day at the Assembly House — the energy of a Norwich wedding lends itself perfectly to honest, real photography.

My approach: I blend in, read the room, and quietly catch the stuff nobody else noticed. The laugh between bridesmaids before you walk in. The moment your dad sees you. Your nan doing her thing on the dancefloor. These are the photos you'll actually look at in twenty years.

My ADHD is a superpower on a wedding day — I notice everything, stay switched on when things move fast, and never stop the party to get a shot.

Norwich has given me some of my favourite wedding day moments. None more so than Becky and Josh's wedding at Norwich Castle. When the taxi didn't show on the morning of their wedding, I didn't think twice — we bundled Becky and her bridesmaids into the car and drove them to the venue ourselves. By the time we pulled up at the Castle she was laughing rather than panicking, and that energy carried through the entire day. That's the thing about documentary wedding photography — you're not just there to take photos. You're part of the day. Becky's nan giving her an enormous thumbs up as she walked out. The dad's face during the vows. The dancefloor going properly mental at 9pm. A gorgeous family, fully themselves, completely uninterested in performing for the camera. These are the photos they'll look at in thirty years.

Becky & Josh — Norwich Castle, Norfolk

Shooting weddings across Norwich

What I've learned
about these venues.

Norwich Castle — there's nowhere quite like it in the region. The Keep is dramatic without trying to be — ancient stone, high ceilings, and light that does something completely different depending on the season. Autumn and winter ceremonies here have a particular atmosphere: warm inside, moody outside, and plenty of contrast to work with. The grounds give you options for couple portraits without ever feeling staged. And the market square as you leave is one of the best natural backdrops in all of Norfolk. I know this venue well and I know exactly where to be when.

The Assembly House — the Music Room has some of the best natural light I've worked in anywhere in Norfolk. Tall windows, warm tones, and a space that genuinely rewards patience. The courtyard and the staircase both produce brilliant moments during drinks receptions if you know where to look. It suits couples who want their day to feel elegant but relaxed — which suits my approach perfectly.

The Georgian Townhouse — intimate, warm, and genuinely beautiful. Rich colours, interesting textures, excellent light. It's a smaller venue which means the energy concentrates. Everyone is closer together, emotions run higher, and the candid moments come faster. The Plantation Garden next door gives you a green, natural setting for portraits without going far. Perfect for couples who want something personal rather than grand.

Why couples choose Magpie Magpie

A Norwich photographer
who actually disappears.

Most photographers say they're relaxed and unobtrusive. I actually mean it. No shouting across rooms, no stopping the first dance for a retake, no making your guests feel like props.

What you get instead: someone who knows when the light shifts at the Assembly House, where to stand in Norwich Castle, and that the best moment at most receptions happens about twenty minutes after everyone stops watching the camera.

You'd rather be dancing than posing

If the idea of being directed for an hour sounds like your personal nightmare, we're going to get on very well.

Your day is going to be emotional

The big laughs, the speeches that make everyone cry, the chaotic confetti moment — I live for all of it.

You want photos that feel like memories

Not magazine shots. Not Instagram bait. Just honest photos that put you back inside the day when you look at them.

Common questions

Norwich wedding
photography FAQ.

Do you photograph weddings in Norwich?

Yes — Norwich is one of my most regular locations. I'm based on the Norfolk/Suffolk border and know the city well. I'm familiar with the light, the logistics, and the best spots at venues right across Norwich. Travel is free within 35 miles, which covers Norwich comfortably.

How much does a Norwich wedding photographer cost?

Packages start from £790 with no hidden extras. Full day, half day and bespoke packages available. See the full breakdown on the pricing page.

What's your style? Do you do posed photos?

My approach is candid and documentary. I blend in and capture moments as they happen. No shouted instructions, no stopping the dancing. If you want a few couple portraits I'll take you away for fifteen minutes and make it relaxed and fun, not staged.

How far in advance should I book?

2026 dates are limited. Saturday dates in summer book quickest — get in touch as soon as you have a date. Mid-week and winter weddings often have more flexibility, so do ask.

When will we get our photos?

Sneak peek within 72 hours. Full edited gallery within 6–10 weeks, delivered to a private online gallery you can download, share and keep forever.

Do you cover other Norfolk venues?

Absolutely. Norwich is just one part of what I cover — I shoot all across Norfolk and Suffolk, from coastal venues on the North Norfolk coast to barn weddings in the countryside. If your venue isn't in Norwich, get in touch and let's talk.
